The Black and mild cigar consists of cut tobacco, the so-called inside material , around which the outer leaf is rolled, a pre-processed tobacco leaf. Then one has a so-called doll or bush. The wrapper is then wrapped around this, after which the cigar is complete.
The used tobacco was moistened and the inside material was rolled into the wrapper to a model that was called pop. This happened in a Black and mild cigar mold that consisted of twenty boats. Five filled molds (one hundred dolls) were placed in a press and dried for two hours. Then the dolls were turned a quarter turn to prevent seam formation, this was the doll turning. The doll was now manually covered with a wrapper, which was a quarter or a sixth of a tobacco leaf, which was wound around the doll spirally from the end of the fire to the rear. Sometimes the cigar was edited by rolling it under a block to minimize the voltage differences that arose during manual covering.
When the cigar was ready, he went to the sorting shop. There, the cigars were sorted by color on long tables by special craftsmen, this happened in rooms that were provided with daylight from the north. The cigars were then pressed and provided with a code, after which they were dried in the drying room for a few days. They were then provided with the strap and packed in crates, with the top layer of cigars, the mirror, had to show a very uniform color.
