Autumn and Winter may not be your traditional months for a holiday, but if you want to see the local area without having to face the large summer crowds, and enjoy some time away in a cosy country cottage then it is the perfect time of year to go away.
The cooler months of the year may not be the time for sunbathing, but you will still find plenty to do all over the UK – from walks in the frosty countryside or through autumnal coloured woods, to visiting some of the many historic buildings and places of interest, and sampling the local cuisine at some fantastic restaurants.
When packing to go away at this time of the year, here are some of the things that you will need to take with you…
A waterproof jacket – If you are going to be out and about, the chances are it could get a bit wet, so this is an essential item
Cosy Woollens – From genuine aran sweaters to scarves and bobble hats, making sure you stay cosy and warm whilst out and about is important if you don’t want to return with a chill as a souvenir!
Extra Socks – Because it you may be on your feet a lot in chillier conditions, this should keep your feet nice and warm, and prevent shoes rubbing
Walking Boots – If you want to get out and about in some of the more wild parts of the UK a sturdy pair of walking boots is a must
