Advantages of non-dedicated server –
- They are more affordable
- They have a worldwide application
- It is very easy to use.
Disadvantages of non-dedicated server –
- Slower- The website uses a single source, so they’re slow to process.
- Security issue- As multiple websites use the same server, there’s a chance of that site getting hacked easily.
- Customization- The shared hosting server is not open to customization. So only the sites that are compatible to run without customized server configuration use a non-dedicated server.
What is dedicated server?
The dedicated server is better than any other shared hosting server. The dedicated server has a variety of cheap dedicated servers for those buyers who are unable to afford dedicated servers as they are more costly.
Difference between dedicated and non-dedicated server
A dedicated server is a private server of a particular website and collects the data and information on that site only. On the other hand, non-dedicated server is a hosting server where multiple websites share the same source.
In terms of security, the use of the server depends on the type of data. There are three types of data classification –

- Private data
- Restricted data
In the case of public data, there is minimal risk of data to be accessed.
In the case of private data, there is a moderate risk of data to be accessed.
In the case of restricted data, there is grave risk of data to be accessed if unauthorized activity.
A dedicated server is not entirely hack-proof, yet still safer than a shared hosting server.
So, to safeguard the private data and restricted data dedicated server is preferable as it guarantees better security. The non-dedicated server is not so reliable in terms of security.
